I've been a photograher since the early 80s and have been awed with the things we're capable of in these "digital darkrooms." Before modern techniques, I was "stiching" images together by cloning from one frame to another, larger canvas. Brightness and color are two things that will help to make or break a photographer. That said, maybe some of the folk with bad reviews need to get a different video card or some other factor causing problems. I also have the 2693HM parked on top of a Yamaha Clavinova, part of a digital audio workstation. I don't have to sit with my head buried in the monitor. Two of the reasons I purchased this model, besides its dimensions, is Samsung's warranty is 3x that of anyone elses. That says they trust their products. The other reason is the matte look rather than the hi-gloss, reflecting glass that makes Vista and Win7's pizazz look a little bit flashier. No glare on this monitor. The auto rotation works perfectly. I purchased this model not long after purchasing the 1680x1050 Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW which I am using at this moment, attached to a Dell notebook. The only thing I can't give opinion on is gaming. I'm not into games. Mark it down, thig guy loves his SyncMaster 2693HM 1920x1200 auto-rotation monitor.

I purchased this monitor to have a large display that I could use in portrait mode. I used it at the office to show client presentations and it works great and provides a large enough screen to view from a few feet away. This is exactly what I wanted. The only draw back is the angle of view has to be pretty straight on when in portrait mode or the colors do not appear correctly. This is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

THE MOST HARM DONE TO MY CUSTOMER SUPPORT VIEW OF SAMSUNG PRODUCTS IS THE ABANDONMENT OF RESPOSIBLITY TO TO REPAIR THE BD-P1200 FIREWARE SCREW-UP .. I PAID AROUND $500 FOR THE BD-P1200 .. ABT. A FEW MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY A FIRMWARE UPDATE LEFT MY PLAYER NON-OPERATIONAL .. ALL PLAYERS SHOULD OF BEEN RECALLED .. BUYER SHOULD HIRE A LAWYER BEFORE BUYING SAMSUNG PRODUCTS .. HA! HA! WHERE IS SAMSUNG LOYALTY TO THE EARLY ADAPTER CUSTOMERS ..

I have had this monitor for just over a year. The picture was great, but over the last month when I would turn it on the volume adjustment menu would come on and not go away unless I turned it off and on with the power switch on the back. Now it won't turn on at all. The frustrating thing is that the monitor works great when it is on, but some engineer somewhere thought this stupid touch sensitive menu thing was a good idea and now I can't turn the thing on. I am all for inovation when it makes sense but that touch of stupidity has bricked my monitor. How about some buttons?I know buttons are so 90's, but at least they work.

I absolutely love this monitor! I did read a review previously posted that the color was a little bright(which is true). I purchased this monitor last year at Best Buy for about $320... Looking at the prices, I should have purchased 2!!!
